Alpine Health is progressing plans for refurbishment works at Hawthorn Village in Bright, with works expected to commence in May 2026 and will be completed in stages with the final stage by November 2026.

While the project was originally planned to commence earlier, additional time was required to finalise approvals and an expanded scope of works to ensure the refurbishment could proceed safely and in line with regulatory requirements.

A dedicated Project Manager will oversee the upgrades, working closely with staff and residents throughout the process.

Following a competitive tender, Ultra Project Services has been appointed to deliver the works. As a regional contractor, Ultra has experience delivering health projects while services remain in operation.

The total investment is now more than $600,000, including a $214,000 Australian Government Aged Care Capital Assistance Program (ACCAP) grant. Alpine Health has increased its contribution to expand the scope of the project, allowing more resident rooms to be upgraded.

The refurbishment will focus on improving the comfort, functionality and living environment for residents and will include:

  • Room refurbishments
  • Modernisation of the dining room
  • New furniture
  • Bathroom upgrades, including heat lamps
  • Improvements to floorings and hallways

Cameron Butler, Interim CEO of Alpine Health, said the refurbishment represents an important investment in Hawthorn Village while it continues to be used for the provision of aged care

“This project will enhance the comfort and daily living environment for residents while ensuring Hawthorn Village continues to provide a safe, welcoming and high-quality aged care environment for our community,” Mr Butler said.

The improvements will support Alpine Health’s commitment to maintaining modern, comfortable facilities that enable older people in the region to remain connected to their community while receiving quality care.
