home care services to help you at home

Home support services for people with low level care needs who are over 65 years of age or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people over 50 years of age.

About Home Care

If you or your loved one are living independently but need a little extra support with day to day activities, our Home Care services can help you remain living safely and independently in the home.

Delivered by alpine@home and indigo@home our services cover the Alpine and Indigo valley's including Bright, Myrtleford, Mount Beauty, Beechworth, Yackandandah, Chiltern, Rutherglen and Tangambalanga and NE Victoria.

These services are funded by the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP).

Eligibility

To be eligible for these funded services you must meet some needs and age requirements:

  • how much assistance you need with some everyday tasks
  • that you are 65 years or older (50 years or older for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people)

My Aged Care is the starting point for all funded aged care. You can check your eligibility by contacting My Aged Care;

Home Care services 

Depending on your needs, you may be eligible to receive one or more the following services;

Domestic Assistance

Trained staff come to your home to help with housework including sweeping, mopping and vacuuming floors, cleaning bathrooms and toilets, cleaning benches and cupboards, dusting, making or changing beds.

Personal Care

Experienced and qualified staff come to your home to help with personal hygiene including showering, dressing & undressing, toileting, shaving and grooming, eating and drinking and assistance with shopping.

Carer Respite

Respite is available so carers can take a break to enjoy social activities, attend appointments, go shopping or participate in leisure activities.

Meals

Meals on Wheels deliver tasty and healthy meals to your home. Meals include an entrée, main course, dessert and juice or fruit.

Social Support

We help you get out and about so you can participate in community life and feel socially included through structured, group-based activities.

Assisted and unassisted shopping. Help to take you out shopping or to go on your behalf.

How to access Home Care services

Register with My Aged Care

Call My Aged Care (MAC) on 1800 200 422 to register for an assessment or apply online at My Aged Care.

Have your medicare card with you and allow enough time to answer some questions about eligibility, your details, and next steps for an assessment.

Assessment

The Regional Assessment Service will contact you to arrange an in-home assessment.

Review

Review and approve your support plan with your family, carer/s.

Support

The Alpine Health Intake Team will get in contact to confirm your services and when they will commence so you can get back to doing the things you love.

Costs

Services may be funded privately or by the Australian Government's Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) depending on your needs and circumstances.
