Alpine Health Volunteer Update
17 March 2023
Alpine Health is pleased to welcome two new members to our Community and Health Advisory Group (CHAG) – Libby Owen-Jones and Brigid Clarke. Libby and Brigid were formally appointed by the Board of Directors on 23rd February. They both have a background in health and community services along with relevant lived experiences. With a passion for community engagement and consumer-informed service improvement, we look forward to their contributions to CHAG and Alpine Health.
Alpine Health also welcomes a number of new community members onto our committees. These members sit alongside staff to review and guide program and service planning, development and implementation.
- Derek Butler – Clinical Governance Committee (previous CHAG member)
- Kitty Knappstein – Aged Care Committee (current CHAG Chair)
- Brigid Clarke – Population Health Committee (new CHAG member)
Committees with existing community members include the Quality Committee, Finance and Audit Committee and Food Services Committee.
We also farewell a number of CHAG members. Thank-you to Derek Butler (12 years on CHAG), Helen McDougall (9 years on CHAG) and Mary Tomaino (taking a leave of absence for one year) for your important contributions to CHAG. Your commitment and enthusiasm over so many years is impressive and you will be missed by CHAG. However we thank-you for continuing your engagement as Alpine Health volunteers but in a different capacity. We welcome Helen and Mary into the Community Consultants team, whose work will support the collection of consumer feedback which will guide the broader community advisory function of CHAG. As noted above, Derek will move onto the Clinical Governance Committee, where his attention for detail will be invaluable.
CHAG is still seeking new members, particularly from Myrtleford (or surrounds) or some of the smaller townships in the Alpine Shire. For information about the role and how to apply, please see https://www.alpinehealth.org.au/news-events/news/new-chag-and-consumer-register-positions.
