The 2022 Otto R Schmalz Memorial Scholarship and the 2022 Mark Robinson Scholarship for Rural Health recipients were announced on Thursday 23 February at the Alpine Health AGM, held at Pioneer Park, Bright.
2022 Otto R Schmalz Memorial Scholarship (Staff Award)
Awarded to Olivia Giles – Master of Marketing and Digital Communications
The Otto R Schmalz Memorial Scholarship is an annual Education and Study Award for Alpine Health staff members. The scholarship was established to commemorate the great contribution of Mr Otto Schmalz to Alpine Health and his commitment to welfare and development of Alpine Health staff.
The 2022 Otto R Schmalz Memorial Scholarship (on behalf of the Schmalz family) was awarded to Olivia Giles who is in the final year of her Master of Marketing and Digital Communications with Monash University. Olivia is working as the Marketing and Communications Assistant with Alpine Health and her studies will complement her work in this area.
“I would like to sincerely thank the Schmalz family, the Alpine Health Board of Directors and Alpine Health for my selection as the recipient of the Otto R Schmalz Memorial Scholarship. I am looking forward to continuing to grow my ability to make a positive contribution to the important work of Alpine Health.”
2022 Mark Robinson Scholarship for Rural Health (Alpine Community Award)
Awarded to Grace Taberner - Bachelor of Speech Pathology
The Mark Robinson Scholarship for Rural Health encourages local people to take up studies in health related disciplines at either undergraduate or postgraduate levels and return to practice in the Alpine Shire.
The 2022 Mark Robinson Scholarship Award was awarded to Grace Taberner who is studying speech pathology at La Trobe University. Grace hopes to work in pathology rurally and one day open her own practice in her home town of Bright.
“Giving people the opportunity, and the power to communicate to their best ability with their loved ones is why I chose to study speech pathology. More importantly, I will choose to practice my passion and career in rural Victoria to provide this much needed service to those who struggle to access affordable, high quality speech pathology.”
